LOVE Island star Amy Hart has opened up about the difficult decision to step away from the show’s podcast – and why the timing was right.

Until recently, the presenter co-hosted Love Island: The Morning After with Indiyah Polack, with the two also joining Maya Jama on spin-off show Love Island: Aftersun.

Amy and Indiyah broke the news of their departure late last month in a joint statement on their social media.

“After three incredible years of gossip, girlie chats and love, we wanted to share that we’re stepping away from Love Island: The Morning After & Aftersun,” their statement began.

“With millions of views, juicy live streams and even a nomination for best video podcast, we are truly leaving on a high and with a friend for life in each other!!”

The duo thanked both ITV and fans for their support on the show and assured there was no drama behind the exit.

Now, in an exclusive interview with The Sun, Amy has revealed the real reason why she’s quit her Love Island role.

“I’ve got two kids,” says the mum, who welcomed her second son in early March.

“Two kids is a lot and I love Love Island so much and it was a joy of a job but I did drive three hours every night.

“Leaving home at 7pm, getting home at 2am in the morning sometimes,” she explained. “Which with one child who is a really good sleeper is really easy but two children it’s quite a lot when it’s a 12 week old.

“And getting someone to babysit a 12-week-old and a 3 month old is a lot.

She added: “It’s a lot for my husband and in the end I had to put my family first.”

While Amy and Indiyah won’t be working together on the podcast anymore, she’s adamant that she’s made a friend for life in the co-host and would love to be in a professional partnership with her in the future.

“Yes I’d love to work with Indiyah again,” she tells us. “I feel like on paper we never would have become friends, she’s a party girl, I’m a mum, but we’re so close.

“She’s literally like a little sister,” she adds affectionately.

The ITV2 star welcomed her second tot – who is a rainbow baby following her two devastating miscarriages – with husband Sam Rason, 38, in March.

However, it took a little time for the parents to decide on and reveal their newborn son’s name.

“Dexter Rason (or as he has been called in the last 2 days, Dex, Dexy, Dexington, Deck Star, Dexy Boy or the baby….still, hard to shake after 2 weeks),” she revealed in a sweet Instagram post.

“Well, that was stressful. Got our long list down to a final two, mum added in a third, Stanley chose the other name and then told everyone at David Lloyd that he was called Dexter, then once we’d decided on Dexter, he started calling him the other name again.”

Amy is already mum to three-year-old Stanley, who is taking on his new big brother duties with aplomb.
