A toddler has suffered serious injuries after she was bitten in the neck by a dog.

Emergency services were called to a home on Gould Hill Road in Beaudesert, in Queensland‘s Scenic Rim, shortly before 5.15pm on Thursday.

Officers found a two-year-old girl suffering a serious neck injury.

The girl was rushed to Brisbane‘s Queensland Children’s Hospital 80km away, where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police and the Scenic Rim Regional Council are now investigating.

‘The young girl sustained multiple serious injuries and remains in a critical condition,’ a police spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

‘Police will be assisting council officers in relation to the matter.’

The council confirmed that it was aware of the incident and was liaising with police about the dog responsible.

‘Scenic Rim Regional Council is unable to comment on this matter as it is part of an ongoing investigation, a spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

‘Council is working with other agencies, such as the Department of Primary Industries and Queensland Police.

‘Council will provide an update when information becomes available.’
