Five teens have been released by cops and a 22-year-old given bail over a wild machete brawl at a major Melbourne train station over the weekend.

Shocking footage shared on social media by Melbourne media personality Ryan Naumenko showed around 10 youths exchanging punches and at least one seen swinging a machete.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a slashed arm.

“Flinders Street Machete scrap early this morning,” Naumenko wrote. “What a beautiful sight to wake up to — thanks @jacintaallanmp. They were caught and released not long after. Whooopeee.”

Another clip shared by content creator Anastasiia showed several youths sitting on the ground by the platform after being arrested.

Only one person has been charged over the incident.

The Herald Sun reports that one of the teens arrested was part of a crew sentenced and released back into the community after torching a liquor business amid the city’s ongoing bar wars.

Sources told the newspaper the teen was involved in firebombing Keysborough alcohol business 80Proof in April.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan’s machete ban, which came into effect on September 1 last year, makes it a crime to carry a machete in public with penalties of up to two years in jail or fines of more than $47,000.

Despite the ban, the weapons continue to be wielded by youths in a series of disturbing incidents in shopping centres, sporting events and on the street.

Last month, a masked gang stormed into Eaton Mall in Melbourne’s southeast and attacked a group of teens with a machete.

On New Year’s Eve, two men were left with serious injuries after brazen group machete attack on Lygon Street in Carlton.
