Brexton Busch is honoring his late father, NASCAR legend Kyle Busch, with an emotional tribute on social media following the driver’s sudden death at age 41.

On Friday, May 22, the 11-year-old changed the profile photos on both his Instagram and Facebook accounts to a touching image of himself embracing his dad after one of Kyle’s recent victories.

The photo was taken on Feb. 21 following Kyle Busch’s win at the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Fr8 Racing 208 at EchoPark Speedway in Georgia. Moments after taking the checkered flag, Kyle was greeted by an excited Brexton at the finish line in a celebration that quickly became one of the family’s most memorable public moments.

Kyle later shared the same image on Instagram, writing, “No. 68🏁 Pumped that @brextonbusch finally got to be here, I know this one means a LOT to him!”

The heartfelt update from Brexton came just one day after NASCAR, the Busch family, and Richard Childress Racing confirmed that Kyle had died following a hospitalization related to what the family described as a “severe illness.”

“On behalf of the Busch family, everyone at Richard Childress Racing and all of NASCAR, we are devastated to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Kyle Busch,” the joint statement said Thursday.

Kyle is survived by his wife, Samantha Busch, and their two children, Brexton and 4-year-old Lennix.

 

 

Only days before his death, Kyle had publicly celebrated Brexton’s 11th birthday with a heartfelt message shared on social media.

“Your mom & I are so proud of who you’re turning out to be!” he wrote.

Kyle and Samantha had often spoken openly about their difficult journey to parenthood and became well-known advocates for IVF awareness after years of infertility struggles. The couple welcomed Brexton in May 2015, while their daughter Lennix was born via surrogate in May 2022.

Over the last several years, Brexton has also started building his own racing career, following closely in his father’s footsteps. The young driver has already competed in multiple racing events around the country and earned attention within the motorsports community.

In October 2023, Kyle and Samantha shared a proud message after Brexton competed at Millbridge Speedway.

“Congrats Brexton we are so proud of you!” they wrote together. “For being so young you put in so much effort watching film, testing, asking questions, siming and it’s paid off! We love to watch you accomplish your dreams!”
