Police allege the stranger confronted the group before pulling a knife, with the victim airlifted in a serious condition.
Family attacked by knife-wielding stranger in Dalb
A young father remains in hospital after a terrifying alleged random knife attack unfolded during an afternoon walk with his family.
The 23-year-old was walking along the Myall Creek Parklands Walk near Moreton St in Dalby, about an hour northwest of Toowoomba, with his partner, child and a friend about 2.30pm on Wednesday when they were approached by a stranger near the Dalby Golf Club.
Police said the man confronted the father before asking him: “What are you looking at?”
Detective Inspector Andrew Trenerry said the alleged attacker then repeatedly swung the weapon at the young father.
“The male then produced a knife from his pocket, swung it at the victim several times, striking the victim causing serious lacerations,” he said.

He was rushed to Dalby Hospital before being airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police said the alleged attacker fled the scene following the stabbing, triggering a major search through the western Darling Downs town.
About 90 minutes later, officers took 46-year-old Dalby man Jack Gordon Neville Bond into custody.
Body-worn camera footage later released by police captured the dramatic arrest of the man on Oakwood St, about 3km from the park.
“Hands behind your back, cross your ankles. Don’t move. Mate, you’re under arrest for grievous bodily harm,” officers can be heard yelling.

He has since been charged with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
Detectives said the two men were not known to each other.
“There is no known information in relation to drugs at this point in time but that certainly will be a subject of the investigation in its totality,” Trenerry said.
Bond appeared briefly in Dalby Magistrates Court on Thursday morning, where he was remanded in custody after not applying for bail.
He is due to return to court next month.
