Man killed in multi-vehicle Sydney crash

Police have confirmed a man died in the multi-vehicle accident on a major road in Lakemba, in Sydney’s west.

Emergency services were called about 11.40am following reports of a two-vehicle crash which had trapped both drivers. Upon arrival, they found another seven vehicles had also collided. It is believed both incidents are linked.

The deceased is yet to be formally identified, while multiple other drivers have been freed by paramedics and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Canterbury Rd is closed in both directions between Chapel St and Haldon St. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Multi-vehicle crash on Western Sydney road

Emergency services are at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash in Western Sydney.

The crash happened on Canterbury Rd in Lakemba near Legge St.

It’s unclear exactly how many cars were involved and if anyone was injured.

The road is now closed between Legge St and Chapel Rd.

Drivers in the area have been told to allow for extra travel time, while light vehicles are being diverted onto local roads.

Heavy vehicles should use Bexley Rd, the M5 and King Georges Rd instead.

Route 946 buses are also diverting away from Canterbury Rd via local streets.
