Authorities searched Harris’ home and surrounding areas before redirecting the search to the border of Fairfield and Chester counties. Investigators later found some of her remains dissolved in a reservoir.

Both of Harris’ parents, Michilae Herring and Johmarea Harris, are in custody. Charges include homicide by child abuse and desecration of human remains.

A vigil was held Sunday at Finlay Park in Columbia. Latisha Holliday, who lives in Jefferson County, traveled to show her support.

“Just sad, man — how could a parent take their child’s life away,” Holliday said. “This child did not deserve none of this, none of it. She’s in heaven now, she’s so beautiful.”
