A horrific shooting in Detroit, USA, on 20/05/2026 has left two siblings dead, while a one-month-old baby miraculously survived a deadly hail of gunfire.
According to initial investigative information, the victims were Raye Johnson (33), a rapper, and his sister Rita Johnson (27). Both were shot dead while sitting in their vehicles parked outside a relative’s home on McKinney Street in Detroit.
Sources say the attack happened late in the evening while the victims were still inside the car. A gunman allegedly approached from behind and fired at least 12 shots into both vehicles, turning the scene into chaos within seconds.
What makes the tragedy even more heartbreaking is that Rita Johnson’s one-month-old baby was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting. Miraculously, the infant was not injured and survived the deadly gunfire.

Detroit police have classified the case as a targeted execution. Investigators are currently reviewing local security camera footage and collecting as well as analysing digital evidence from social media in an attempt to identify the suspect. However, no arrests have been made so far.
The initial motive is believed to be linked to ongoing disputes on social media. According to investigators, Raye Johnson frequently livestreamed and made provocative remarks insulting a deceased member of another family, which sparked widespread outrage online. These tensions are believed to have escalated from the digital space into real life, ultimately leading to the fatal attack.
However, Rita Johnson was described as not being directly involved in these online conflicts. Despite this, she still became a victim in what appears to have been an attack aimed at her brother.
The crime scene has been cordoned off as investigations continue, while police are urging witnesses to come forward with any information that could help identify the gunman.
The case has once again sparked debate about the fragile boundary between online and real-world conflict. Experts warn that hateful, provocative, or inflammatory speech on social media can have serious real-life consequences, sometimes leading to irreversible tragedies.
As the investigation continues, the Detroit community remains in shock and mourning the loss of the two siblings, while hoping justice will be served soon.
