A CHILLING 911 call and a string of terrified witnesses have thrust a US state into the center of America’s wildest Bigfoot mystery in decades.

Multiple people claim to have encountered a massive, hair-covered creature lurking in the woods — and investigators say it’s on the move.

The sightings in northeast Ohio started in March and have been reported in wooded areas southeast of Cleveland.

In an alarming 911 call to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, a frantic woman can be heard describing “prints — huge prints” to the dispatcher, according to FOX affiliate WJW-TV.

Another woman, who asked not to be identified, told the outlet that the sheriff’s deputy thought the situation was bizarre.

“He said it was strange, too,” she said. “He took pictures … he said, ‘It’s definitely something.’”

Jeremiah Byron, host of the Bigfoot Society Podcast, has extensively covered the subject.

“It’s a hair-covered creature. It’s on two legs. It’s walking like a human would — like it’s got somewhere to go,” he told the outlet.

A “Bigfoot flap” is the term researchers use when multiple credible sightings cluster in the same area within a short window of time — the cryptid equivalent of a UFO flap, and considered extremely rare by those who study the phenomenon.

According to the Bigfoot Society, six sightings unfolded across four days in a tight corridor stretching from Mantua to Windham.

The first came on March 6, when a local researcher claimed to spot a 9-foot brown male standing 120 yards away near a road.

It reportedly clocked him — and retreated at high speed.

The next night, witness Dylan Obney reported an 8-foot figure with long arms and dark brown hair.

Obney heard heavy footsteps and a deep, vibrating grunt — then total silence. Huge muddy footprints were found at the scene.

By March 9, the alleged activity had shifted 8 miles east, where a hiker claimed to encounter an 8-foot black-furred creature and immediately fled.

Just over an hour later, two witnesses reported a 15-second face-to-face encounter with a 10-foot black figure on the Headwaters Trail.

That evening in Windham, a long-time skeptic claimed to spot a 6-foot brown figure running with an impossibly long stride.

“I know what I saw, but I don’t know what I saw,” she said.

The variation in height led the Bigfoot Society to conclude they may not be tracking a single creature, but a family group migrating east through the Headwaters Trail greenbelt.

The following morning brought one of the most alarming accounts yet — a resident in Newton Township let their German Shepherd outside at 4 am when the dog immediately lunged toward the woodline, OutKick reported.

The owner saw a massive black shadow — estimated at 8 to 10 feet tall — crashing through the brush.

The witness said it was “way bigger than a bear.”

By March 11, an eighth alleged sighting had emerged near Lake Milton — where a witness claimed to see a 7-foot “dark reddish-brown” creature with muscular arms that “moved with incredible speed” before vanishing into the woods.

Portage County Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski confirmed the scale of the reports.

“Ten individual people were like ‘Yeah I was walking my dog when I saw a big creature with musty odor and suddenly it ran,’” he told Cleveland 19.

According to Fox News, Byron said the Bigfoot community hasn’t seen anything like this in living memory.

“The Bigfoot community is extremely excited because we thought we’d never live through anything like this again where there’s a massive amount of sightings in such a short amount of time,” he said.

In a statement to The U.S. Sun, Byron said that reports of alleged sightings “[stopped] as quickly as they started,” and noted he had “not received any recent new reports from the area.”

“Glenn Adkins and his team from the Ohio Sasquatch Project are still boots on the ground in the area in case new reports need to be investigated,” he told The U.S. Sun.

“There has been no new physical evidence found at this time. In my opinion, the Ohio Bigfoot Flap of March 2026 is closed. Glenn’s theory of why the flap started in the first place seems to be the most plausible.”

Byron added that because the weather in March was “unseasonably warm,” more people were outdoors,  which accounted for the increased number of “sightings.”

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to request for comment.
