When Dallas thundered onto television screens in 1978, it redefined primetime drama with oil money, outrageous cliffhangers and a family feud that made Shakespeare look tame. Nearly five decades on, the real shock isn’t who shot J.R. – it’s how little the surviving cast seems to have aged.
From Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray to Victoria Principal, Charlene Tilton and Priscilla Presley, these stars look astonishingly preserved, as if time politely declined to mess with the Ewings. Some credit wellness routines and clean living, others have built skincare empires or embraced quieter, more balanced lives. It seems like the Ewings didn’t just have oil; they also found the Fountain of Youth in one of those Texas drill sites.
Whatever their secrets, the proof is in the photos. Saddle up as HELLO! takes a look at how Southfork’s finest are still stealing the show.

The moral man of Dallas
Patrick Duffy, now 77, will forever be remembered as Bobby Ewing – the moral compass of Dallas and the man who famously “returned from the dead” via a shower scene. Readers of a certain vintage like myself might also remember him from the short-lived, yet iconic, television series Man from Atlantis. After anchoring the series for over a decade, Patrick seamlessly transitioned into sitcom royalty with Step by Step, proving his charm extended well beyond oil fields and family feuds.

In recent years, Patrick has remained a familiar face on TV, theatre stages and reality competitions, while also becoming unexpectedly adored on social media. Personally, Patrick has spoken candidly about finding joy later in life, including a widely celebrated late-life romance with Happy Days alum Linda Purl.

He credits his new love with keeping him fit and healthy, telling Daily Mail that Linda is an avid outdoorswoman who loves mountain climbing. “She cannot sit still,” he said. “I want to maintain the mutual lifestyle of the great outdoors with her. So she’s been a great influence on me in that respect.”

Linda Gray

Linda Grey played Sue Ellen Ewing
At 85, Linda Gray is living proof that Sue Ellen Ewing’s power never came from J.R. – it came from within. As the long-suffering yet resilient wife, Linda helped redefine how women were written on television, giving emotional depth to a character who could easily have been dismissed. After Dallas, she enjoyed a thriving career on stage and screen, including West End theatre roles, and became a passionate advocate for humanitarian causes, working with the United Nations on women’s issues.

She says taking responsibility for her physical, mental and spiritual health is one of the biggest lessons she has learned. “It takes time, effort and planning but we need to become more aware, concerned and educated instead of just popping pills,” she told Parade. “I try to do some kind of physical exercise every day like squats and lunges, or weights.” To sustain a positive outlook she likes to: “Meditate and choose to be joyful.” Om… we will have what she’s having. At 85, she still looks absolutely sensational.

Steve Kanaly

Steve Kanaly played ranch hand Ray Krebbs
As ranch hand Ray Krebbs, Steve Kanaly, now 80, brought quiet intensity to Dallas, with his complicated Ewing bloodline and a permanent moral tug-of-war. Although he continued to act in film and television up until 2014, more recently he has stepped away from Hollywood to focus on photography, watercolour painting and a more grounded lifestyle. His work has been exhibited internationally, proving his creative instincts ran far deeper than television fame.

Steve with his Dallas co-stars
Steve’s youthful appearance today seems less about green juice and more about low stress, creative fulfilment, and knowing when to exit the spotlight. Ray always preferred open land to boardrooms, and Steve appears to have followed suit – swapping drama for daylight and deadlines for canvas. He and his wife live on a ranch in Ojai, California. What a dream life – we’re not jealous at all, honest.

Victoria Principal

Victoria Principal played Pamela Barnes Ewing
When Victoria Principal, 76, was at the peak of her career playing Pamela Barnes Ewing she made the rare move of leaving acting. Her second act was even more formidable: she pivoted toward entrepreneurship and wellness, founding Principal Secret, a skincare line inspired by the holistic beauty principles she’d embraced long before “self-care” became a buzzword. It was a move that allowed her to stay creatively engaged while living life firmly on her own terms.

Victoria loves ranch living
That life now centres around ranch living – starting to spot a theme here – where Victoria has long spoken about her love of horses and the peace that comes with wide open spaces. If the answer to looking this good in your eighth decade means being around horses all day, sign us up – she still looks like she’s in Season One.

Charlene Tilton

Charlene Tilton played Lucy Ewing
Lucy Ewing was chaos with a credit card – and Charlene Tilton, now 67, played her to perfection. Thrust into fame at a young age, Charlene became one of television’s most recognisable faces almost overnight. Today, Charlene remains active in acting, voice work and the charity sector – she is currently the ambassador for Actors for Autism, an organisation that leads improv and acting workshops for children and adults with autism. Lucy may have stirred the pot at Southfork, but Charlene’s real-life evolution is all about resilience, self-knowledge and finding joy beyond the drama.

Charlene still acts today
She remained close to the show’s star – Larry Hagman – up until his death, releasing a poignant statement about her relationship with him. “Dallas was so much more than a television phenomenon to me. It was my family. I grew up with a mentally ill single mother raising me and no father figure in my life. I remember the day I met the force of nature that is Larry Hagman like it was yesterday. My Uncle Larry became the father figure that I so needed and longed for.” Gosh, it’s very dusty in here all of a sudden.

Priscilla Presley

Priscilla Presley played Jenna Wade
At 80, Priscilla Presley remains one of the most fascinating – and famous – figures ever associated with Dallas. As Jenna Wade, she brought understated strength and emotional nuance to the Ewing orbit. Off-screen, her legacy is extraordinary. After Elvis Presley’s death, Priscilla transformed Graceland into a global cultural institution, securing her place as a formidable businesswoman.

She’s long been associated with wellness, meditation and mindful living, and her elegant ageing reflects a life lived with intention. Priscilla’s longevity isn’t just physical – it’s professional. Few have navigated fame, grief and reinvention with such composure.

Priscilla is associated with mindful living
In an interview with Vogue Australia she shared some of her top tips. “I have a routine, facials of course. I do try to stay fit. I walk a lot in the morning, I do Pilates and sometimes yoga. Walking and yoga are great for meditation.” Book us a facial and order a yoga mat, stat.

Audrey Landers

Audrey Landers played Afton Cooper
At 69, Audrey Landers is still the same stunning blonde bombshell that graced our screens as Afton Cooper – one of Dallas’ most memorable free spirits. Off-screen, Audrey balanced acting with music, producing and later writing. Alongside her sister Judy, she carved out a unique career that blended Hollywood with creative independence. She is also a mum to twin boys and has a QVC fashion line.

Audrey tries to live a healthy lifestyle
“I try to live a healthy lifestyle – and that helps a lot,” she told Canyon News. “I know I don’t exercise enough, but I am very active, I never sit still. I don’t drink except for an occasional glass of champagne. I never smoked, and I didn’t have any substance abuse problems; sorry to be so boring!” Let’s be honest, boring never looked so good.

Sheree J. Wilson

Sheree J. Wilson played April Stevens
An actress, producer, businesswoman and model, Sheree J. Wilson, 67, has many strings to her bow. She arrived on Dallas as April Stevens and quickly made her mark with elegance and steel. After her dramatic exit from the series – her character was gunned down in the final season during her honeymoon – she found long-running success on Walker, Texas Ranger.

Sheree has stepped behind the camera
In recent years, Sheree has worked behind the camera as a producer and director, maintaining control over her career trajectory – a longevity move in itself. April Stevens may have met a tragic end, but Sheree’s career has been defined by adaptability, confidence and longevity with purpose. Similar to her co-star, Victoria Principal, she also has a skincare line and is involved with a horse rescue equine therapy nonprofit organisation.

Cathy Podewell

Cathy Podewell played Cally Harper
At 62, Cathy Podewell looks as fresh-faced as she did when she portrayed Cally Harper, J.R.’s second wife, in Dallas. With a blend of innocence and quiet resolve, she offered a softer counterpoint to the show’s high-octane schemers. After her time on the show, Cathy made a deliberate choice to step away from Hollywood and prioritise family and personal life.

“Being a mom has sort of been my passion and I haven’t regretted all these years of mommydom,” she told Cryptic Rock. “I am trying to wrap my head around the notion of getting back into it. I did it once, maybe I can do it again – I will be playing grandma roles now,” she joked. Maybe the best longevity strategy is knowing when to walk away – and having the self awareness to not take yourself too seriously.
