De-a-dly Dog At-tack Leaves Man De-a-d as Owner, 55, Is Char-ged — Chil-ling Detail Emerges
A DOG owner has been charged with manslaughter after an “out of control” pet mauled a man to death.
Cops descended on the scene in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, on Saturday afternoon following reports a man had been bitten by a German Shepherd during an “altercation”.

Lee Ellis, 55, has been charged with manslaughter after the victim, a 55-year-old man, was attacked on a footpath in the Calder Grover area, near to Blacker Lane.
He was raced to hospital in a critical condition but, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died shortly after 7pm that night.
The dog understood to be involved in the shocking incident was seized by the police.
Cops said on Sunday that two women stopped to help the man who died after the attack, urging them to get in touch.

In a statement today, the force said: “Lee Ellis, aged 55, of Blacker Lane, Calder Grove, Wakefield, has been charged with manslaughter and being the owner/person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death.
“He has been remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ Court later today.
“The charges relate to an incident on the old trainline footpath off Blacker Lane on Saturday afternoon.
“A German Shepherd dog seized as part of this investigation continues to be held in police kennels.

“The family of the 55-year-old man who died are being supported by specially trained officers.”
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Cox, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said on Sunday: “Sadly, a man has died and it is really important that we understand the circumstances of what has taken place.
“We know that two people, one named Sophie, stopped to assist the injured man and direct officers.
“We would urge these two women to come forward to help us with our ongoing enquiries into this tragic incident.
“The initial altercation has happened in an area used by walkers and we are urging anyone who has potentially seen or heard any part of the exchange between these two men to please make contact.”
