‘NOT BEING HEARD’ Mum of Brit, 23, shot dead at dad’s Texas home will fly to US in fight to reopen case after being ‘let down’ by UK cops
THE MUM of a 23-year-old Brit shot and killed by her father is set to fly to the US in a bid to reopen the tragic case.
Lucy Harrison’s mum, Jane Coates, is hoping to campaign for a fresh investigation more than a year on from her daughter’s tragic death.

In January of 2025, Lucy was shot in the heart by her dad Kris at his home in Texas.
Kris, 52, claims the horror occurred accidentally while he was “showing off” his firearm to his daughter, who had been visiting him in on holiday.
Lucy tragically died on January 10 last year – the same day she and her boyfriend were due to fly back home to Warrington, Cheshire.
US cops dropped their probe without charging Kris, but a British coroner later ruled his actions “reckless” and delivered an unlawful killing verdict.

And Jane has since accused the American authorities of “ignoring” evidence that she claims contradicts Kris’ version of events.
Now, 19 months on, Jane is heading back in the hopes of speaking to a district attorney and fighting for a fresh investigation.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the mum said: “I think it’s not being heard – just raising all of our concerns and nothing being acted upon, and feeling like we’ve just been deserted by the British authorities.
“Receiving the unlawful killing outcome was a day full of complete mixed emotions, but one where finally Lucy’s truth and voice has been heard in some capacity.
“But from then it still hasn’t moved things forward in terms of my request for a reopening of the investigation in Texas.”
Joined by Radd Seiger, previous advisor to Harry Dunn’s family, the pair will travel to Texas and ask officials to accept the coroner’s outcome.
Cheshire Coroner Jacqueline Devonish concluded in February that the shooting was “reckless”.
Kris, a British citizen, chose not to attend the inquest in the UK as he said it would be too emotionally difficult.
Lucy’s boyfriend Sam Littler gave The Sun a harrowing account of being at the police station after the shooting: “I was 23 years old, alone in Texas, and had just found out that my girlfriend had died”.
He added: “From my understanding, it felt as though the situation was already being viewed as a ‘terrible accident’ before I was questioned as a witness.”
Kris and Lucy were alone at the time of her death and the 52-year-old said he had been showing a firearm to his daughter.
Sam has now questioned whether the Grand Jury in Texas was given the full evidence before it decided not to press charges.
Jane has campaigned loudly for justice for Lucy, calling on ministers for public support in the case.
The family have requested various meetings with senior officials including Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband.
A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokeswoman said: “Our thoughts remain with Jane and her family for the tragic loss they have suffered.
“We were in contact with the family and provided consular support.
“We will always look to learn lessons to improve the consular support we offer to other families in the future.”
