A mom massacred her own family after finding her husband’s porn stash and accused him of cheating, police have said.
Hailey Dempsey was found dead alongside three family members in a home in Plant City, Florida, in what investigators say was a murder suicide. Police Chief Richard Mills Jr. confirmed Dempsey killed her 55-year-old mother Valerie DeBow at her home on May 3 before gathering her three children and fleeing.
The mom took the children behind some bushes near a nearby home and started shooting. She killed her four-year-old and four-month-old daughters. She shot at her two-year-old daughter but missed before turning the gun on herself and taking her own life, Mills said.The chief acknowledged the long wait before releasing information about the case, saying that investigators needed witness statements and didn’t want to compromise the investigation
During a press conference, Mills’ voice almost cracked as he said: “I’ve been in law enforcement for 34 years and I’m sorry but it’s kind of tough right now, it kind of hit me hard.”

He added: “I was on that scene, and it was probably the worst scene I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Police arrived an hour after the shooting with the two-year-old girl left outside with the bodies of her family for that time.
The surviving daughter is staying with family members and was physically unharmed by the ordeal.

Police say that there was no indication of mental illness but Hailey and her husband Jay Dempsey had got into an argument before the incident stemming from porn she found on Jay’s phone.
Jay was ruled out as a suspect in the killings.
Police had been at the home three times before the shootings, once on May 1 and twice on May 2.

“There was no indication whatsoever, we asked several times, nothing criminal involved, no violence involved, it was just an argument,” Mills said.
“It was in fact surrounding some infidelity and some porn that she allegedly found on one of his cell phones.
“They do have religious beliefs in the family, so they were going through some issues related to the porn. I think that’s where everything stemmed from,” Mills explained.
