A California man fatally stabbed his mother’s 81-year-old boyfriend before calling 911 and then informing responding officers he was the person they were looking for, authorities allege.

Michael Gledhill, 44, was arrested and booked on one count of murder, according to a Los Angeles Police Department press release.

Officers responded to a radio call at a residence in the 19200 block of Erwin Street in Tarzana around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, the release states.

At the scene, officers found 81-year-old James Handy in the front yard of the home, “unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to his chest,” the release states.

Hardy was taken to a local where he was pronounced deceased.

According to police, Gledhill flagged down responding officers, allegedly “telling them he was the one they were looking for.”

Police said Gledhill lived at the home with his mother, who is Handy’s girlfriend.

Gledhill was transported to Van Nuys Jail and is being held on a $2 million bond.

It is unclear if he has been formally charged in the case as of Thursday, June 4.
