Alleged joyride in Melbourne CBD ends in crash and chaotic arrest
A young driver is in custody over an alleged joyride in Melbourne CBD on Sunday night.
The 23-year-old man allegedly crashed a stolen white Subaru into two other vehicles on Flinders St before ploughing into a building just after 11pm.
He allegedly fled the on foot, but members of the public gave chase.
Bystanders pursued the man until police caught up with him and made an arrest on nearby Flinders Ln.
The South Yarra man was taken to hospital for observation following the incident, as police investigate.

Learner driver allegedly hits cop with car
Another learner driver is facing court over an alleged police chase in Goulburn over the weekend.
The 16-year-old boy had been driving with an allegedly obscured number plate on Park Rd at Eastgrove but police allege he failed to stop when they tried to pull him over about 8.30pm on Saturday.
The chase that ensued was called off shortly after for safety concerns, but kickstarted again when police spotted the same car parked near the intersection of Sydney Rd and Common St in Goulburn, police allege.
That is when the boy allegedly hit a nearby constable with his car, then slammed into a marked police vehicle, and fled, prompting police to take chase once more.
Police gave up on the alleged chase again due to safety concerns, and the boy was arrested at a Goulburn address at 6am on Sunday and charged with 14 driving offences.
“The constable allegedly struck by the sedan suffered a minor leg injury that did not require further treatment,” NSW Police said.
It was the first of two similar but seperate alleged incidents in the area. Just hours later, police would allegedly chase another learner driver, who plunged onto train tracks.
