A popular tourist destination in Australia’s Northern Territory has been struck by tragedy, as a woman in her 30s has sadly lost her life
A woman in her 30s has died at a popular tourist attraction in Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory.
In a statement, Northern Territory Police confirmed the woman died yesterday on the western side of Ubirr Lookout.
A spokesperson said police were investigating the death.
“The full circumstances surrounding her death are not yet known and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” the statement said.
It is not yet known whether the woman was a Northern Territory resident or a tourist.
The site has been closed to the public.

The Ubirr rock formation is one of Kakadu’s two most famous Aboriginal rock art galleries, hosting some of the world’s most outstanding rock art, and is a major drawcard for tourists.
The site featured prominently in the 1986 classic Australian movie Crocodile Dundee.
In a statement, NT Parks and Wildlife Minister Marie-Clare Boothby said it was “heartbreaking to hear about the tragic loss of life at Ubirr today”.
“My thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time,” she said.
