Back in 2001, Renée Zellweger put on a surprisingly convincing British accent to star in Bridget Jones’s Diary, the film adaptation of Helen Fielding’s best-selling novel. The American Oscar-winner plays a 32-year-old single woman who ends up dating both Colin Firth and Hugh Grant’s characters to comic effect. The much-loved film earned Zellweger a Best Actress Academy Award nomination and has become a huge part of English pop culture. Unsurprisingly, the critical and box office hit has spawned three sequels to date.

The original film was followed by Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004), Bridget Jones’s Baby (2016) and most recently Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025). In fact, the first three films are on one night after each other on BBC1 starting with Bridget Jones’s Diary at 10:20pm on Saturday, followed by Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason at 10:30pm on Sunday and Bridget Jones’s Baby at 10:40pm on Monday. And if you want to complete the quadrilogy with Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, it’s currently streaming on NOW.
