Beloved aged care nurse Carron Scott is being remembered as a “remarkable” and “amazing” woman who spent more than 20 years caring for others, after she was killed by a driver in an allegedly stolen ute while heading to work.
The 60-year-old was driving to her shift in aged care when her orange Toyota Corolla was struck head-on on the D’Aguilar Hwy at Woodford, north of Brisbane, about 6.10am on Tuesday.
She was on her way to Woodford Manor Aged Care when she suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
A fundraiser was launched to help the devastated family cover funeral and memorial costs after the sudden loss of a wife and mother.
“She was always there for me. Whenever I called, she answered,” her son Simon Glanz told 7NEWS.

The GoFundMe describes Carron as “the most amazing caring nurse who went above and beyond every day”.
“She looked after many elderly people in their darkest days with comfort and love.
“So loved by all who knew her and worked with her.
“Gone way too soon.”
The page says the family has been left shattered by the tragedy and asked for support “in this unimaginable time”.
“It could have been anyone of us,” the fundraiser says.
Scott’s husband, Darryl, paid a heartbreaking tribute to his long-time partner following her death.
“I am absolutely devastated,” he wrote on social media.
“You were taken from us in an instant. Right now we are all feeling lost without you.
“Thank you for a wonderful 25 years together. Life will go on, but you will never be forgotten. Until we meet again on the other side. Love you forever.”
The couple had just celebrated their wedding anniversary.
“Happy 21st wedding anniversary to my beautiful wife. Love you forever,” Darryl wrote.
His wife replied: “Love you forever.”
Police allege the white Isuzu D-Max involved in the crash had been stolen from an address on McLoughlin Rd in Morayfield about 3.45am.
The 31-year-old driver allegedly fled the scene before nearby schools and a daycare centre were placed into lockdown as police searched the area.
He was later found hiding in a school toilet block about two hours after the crash and taken into custody.

The 31-year-old was treated for minor injuries following the crash and remained under police guard in hospital.
He has since been charged with manslaughter, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at an incident, disqualified and drug driving, as well as two counts of trespass.
